Future plans are to upgrade the stretch of NY 17 in between South Waverly, PA and Binghamton to Interstate standards, at which point I-86 East will be continued eastward through Binghamton. I-86 dips into Bradford County and the borough of South Waverly briefly, before returning to New York as NY 17. The junction of US 220 in PA (Exit 60) marks the current eastern end of I-86's main segment.
